Here is why -
A police sergeant shot dead a Muslim man in Nga Khu Ra village in Maungtaw, a statement released by the Information Committee of the State Counsellor Office on 30 November said.
The statement said sergeant Wai Lan Linn, who serve in the Myo Thit police outpost, found suspicious looking man while he was smoking in front of a small shop. The policeman tried to call the man to come to him using local language, but the man tried to flee and he was shot dead.
The statement said the police sergeant and the other police personnel in the camp would face inquiry over the incident as per existing regulations.
