Here is why -
A Prophet Day ceremony which was held on 25 February at Yangon’s Strand Hotel was disrupted by ultra nationalist protestors led by the Patriotic Monk Union.
The leader of the protest U Thusita said his group tried to disrupt the ceremony as its include preaching on political issues.
He said no matter what Muslim says they loyal to the country but they are persistently working to get recognition for Rohingya people, which actually do not exists in the country.
The protestors said they also oppose to a comment by an 88 Generation student leader Ko Mya Aye that the Muslims do not accept the Nationalities Verification Card NVC. He made the comment in a speech at an event marking the Prophet Day held in Minglar Taung Nyunt Township.
The Nationalist Coalition which is formed with 17 nationalist groups have disrupted 5 ceremonies in Yangon marking the Prophet Day and one similar event in Pyay.
