The Buthitaung court is hearing the trials of 508 Muslims were arrested and put on trial on charges related to violent incidents in the Northern Rakhine State late last year and early this year. Among those who were arrested a 13 year old Mohamed Shafi died, his father said the reason for his death was still unknown. “My son was arrested by the military, he was very young, and after that one captain from Kyar Khaung Taung camp told me that he has died. Two days after that the commander of Buthitaung Infantry Division called me to say that the reason for his death was not known, Mohamed Alum told journalists on 1 April. A statement issued by the State Counsellor Office issued on 17 February said 528 people are under arrest in connection with the incidents in Northern Rakhine State and eight of them were killed while under detention. According to Border Guard force among those arrested include 12 minor and the rest 496 are 19 years old and above. Among those arrested 425 people are facing murder charges other are facing charges relating to possession of explosives, assault and destruction of public properties. Their cases are registered with Nga Khu Ra and Pwint Phyu police stations in Maungtaw Township. Reference Irrawaddy
