President office admits travel restrictions on Muslims in Rakhine

Here is why -
A statement issued by the President Office admitted that Muslims in Rakhine State are facing travel restriction within the township they are living and they are not allow to go to town centre.
The statement was made in an announcement issued by the President Office on 8 February, which is related to formation of a committee to issue Nationality Verification Cards.
The paragraph 2 of the announcement said “…based on local situation people are facing travel restrictions, people who wanted to apply for NVC cards are unable to travel to the town where the offices are situated (this is an admitting that Muslims are not allow to travel to town centre), they are not travelling frequently as they face checking by the authorities even if they travel within the township
Muslims in every townships of Rakhine State were forced to flee their homes in the aftermath of 2012 sectarian violence in Rakhine State.
Apart from Thandwe, the rest of Muslims in Rakhine State are not allow to go to the towns centre since then. Also, travel from one village to other has also been restricted. Such a travel ban is affecting the education, health, economic and social conditions of Muslims.
