The Sittwe District Court sentenced a Rohingya man to death for his role in the attack on Border Guard Forces in Maungtaw last October, Democracy Newspaper reported. Mohamed Nur Aulla, 23, a resident of Kyaukseit Pyin village in Maung Taw who has been facing murder charges under section 302 sub section 1 C, was sentenced on 10 February. He is the first person to be convicted among 14 people facing trial related to the Maungtaw attack. He is also facing charges under the section 2 sub section 1 A of the arms act and the section 6 sub section 1 of Public Property Act and under the section 17 /1 of Unlawful Association Law, he was indicted by the border guard force.
