About 600 suspects arrested in Maungtaw incident

Here is why -
The total number of people arrested in connection with the attack on border outpost in Maungtaw has reached around 600, according to the list released by the Information Committee of the State Counsellor Office.
The figure released on 9 December said 575 people were arrested in connection with the attack on 9 October and out of which 48 people were sentenced to prison and 9 were released, one is on bail and 4 people died in detention. The committee said 466 people are still under investigation.
The attacks were, carried out on the headquarters of Myanmar Border Guard Force in Kyee Kan Pyin as well as on Ko Tan Kauk camp and Nga Khu Ya camps near Myanmar Bangladesh border. In the attacks a number of security force were killed and arms and ammunition confiscated by the attackers.
