Many Muslim families in Min Bya were forced to flee to the mountains during 2012 sectarian violence in Rakhine State in 2012. More than 3000 people are still living in IDP camps and living in bamboo huts without electricity. They are surviving on food rations provided by the World Food Programme, which include rice, cooking oil, beans as well as vegetable and meat. They are not allow to go to the market so they have to ask other people to buy other necessary household items for them. “We have our acquaintance in the market so we can ask them to supply the items we need, there are people who can transport things to us. However, those who sell and transport have to do discretely. Last month five guards of our IDP cam was removed after they were accused of helping us in buying things from the market,” an IDP Ko Maung Saw said. He said in some incidents people caught of supplying with food and other items to Muslims were paraded in the town as traitors It is very difficult for IDPs to travel to other village, which made their living conditions more difficult. They are facing food shortages and in some places, there is shortage of fuel woods for cooking. Reference: https://www.facebook.com/naingnaingoo.naingnaing.5/posts/227048024400143
