Here is why -
A Malaysian aid vessel carrying relief items for the Rohingya Muslims and Rakhine Busddhist has arrived to Yangon’s Thiliwa port on 9 February. The nationalists gathered in front of the vessel to express their view that Rohingya people do not exists in Myanmar.
About 100 protestors who are members of the Patriot Monk Union staged the protest as the vessel arrived to the port. They were carrying placards saying there is no Rohingya in Myanmar and they do not accept Rohingya.
A statement issued by Nationalist Coalition one day ahead of the protest said it would stage protest to show opposition to the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak who frequently use the word Rohingya to refer Muslim population in Rakhine State.
Win Ko Ko Latt, who is the chair of the Nationalist Network, said the citizenship status of more than 1 million Bengali (Rohingya) should be verified under the Burma Citizenship Law of 1982 and those who are found to be not eligible for citizenship should be sent to Bangladesh
A monk U Thusita, who is a member of Patriotic Monk Union told BBC news that there are only 135 ethnic races exists in Myanmar there is no Bengali those who came into Myanmar are illegal immigrant from Bangladesh. So those who fled from Rakhine State to Bangladesh were those actually return to their own country.
