Here is why -
Local people in Rakhine State capital Sittwe has called for a meeting between the legal experts from Rakhine and their counterparts working for the government to discuss on issues relating to the citizenship verification in the state.
The Rakhine State government said the deputy Chief of the State immigration Department and Colonel Htin Linn, who is the Border Affairs and Security Minister in the State Government, would respond to the request.
The local resident said on 2 April that they need to know what are the government plans to deal with the people who are found to be not eligible for citizenship after verification.
The local people in Rakhine State has staged a series of protests in Sittwe, Mrauk U, Rathetaung, Kyauktaw, Min Bya, Myay Bone and Taunggyup townships in Rakhine State against issuing citizenship identification to those who are ineligible.
