A Mandalay-based monk group issued a warning that it would call for a revolution if the monks facing trial for their anti- Muslim were imprisoned. The Mandalay Region Patriotic Monk Group said in a statement issued on 27 April that it would call for Second Saffron Revolution if the monks facing trial for organizing demonstration in front of the United States Embassy in Yangon were found guilty. In the response to the threat, the court decided to adjourn the hearing. The statement from the monk group said if the three monks including U Parmauk Kha and U Thusita along with 4 people including Naung Taw Lay and Win Ko Ko Latt were convicted they would called for a protest similar to a nationwide monk protest in 2007 which is widely known as Saffron Revolution. They are facing charges of offense against the State under the section 505 sub section b of the Penal Code for their role in organizing a protest in front of the US embassy in April 2016. The protest was against a statement issued by the embassy, which describe the Muslims in Rakhine State as Rohingyas. A group of 500 supporters of the defendants gathered outside the Kamayut court where the case is heard. They gathered to put pressure on the court to drop the charges. 505 b is unbailable but the court decided to adjourn the hearing until May 9.
