Eight arrested Mauntaw suspects died

The State Counsellor office said eight people out of 500 arrested for their suspected role in last October terrorist attacks in Maungtaw have died while they were in detention. The statement issued on 17 February said all deaths were due to natural cause. The statement said total 585 suspects were arrested out of which 51 were released and eight people died. The remaining 526 people are still under interrogation. A series of arrests took place in Maungtaw since 9 October terrorist attack of three border outposts of Myanmar security forces. 13 civilians were known to have died in these incidents.
