This report is Confirmed true and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
A series of rules which are discriminatory against the members of minority religions were issued in Sei Khaun village in Pa O Self-Administrative Region in Shan State. The rules which are mandatory for the villagers to follow were issued earlier this month, and they include severe restriction on the non-Buddhist people. The rule said only Buddhist have to be appointed as the village head and schoolteachers and land can be sold to Buddhists only. It also said marriage should be only between Buddhists and those household who allow Muslim guests to stay overnight will have to face severe punishment. The rule are written in Pa O language. The rules are found to be against the 2008 Constitution, which grants right to the people to travel freely to any parts of the country and also to practice religion of their choice. Reference: BHRN.
